Proof-reading
We understand the value of a thorough proofreading, so all our translations are proofread by a second in-house linguist, at no extra charge, before delivery. This process is further streamlined by the fact that each translator-proofreader team is in the same building and can discuss differences of opinion directly and quickly. This results in error-free high quality translations, which is the basis of our quality warranty.
Third Party Proof-reading
Many freelancers or translation agencies do not use a translator-proofreader team for their projects, which results in translations being delivered to the client without proper proofing. This means there can be missing text, typos or mistranslations. We can undertake the proofing of these translations, provided their quality is above average. For lower quality documents, we suggest re-translation, which is usually of equal cost and produces much better end-results.
Editing
Many clients, usually in the medical/pharmaceutical industries, choose to have a third stage –editing– for their projects, due to the sensitive nature of their documents. When we undertake such projects, we use a 3-person team: translator, proofreader and editor.
Additional Services
Trademarks
Not a typical translation project. We follow the EU Community Trademark System to translate from Greek into English, product descriptions and logos according to the EU Nice classifications for applications made at the Trademark Office. These translations follow strict guidelines and receive official feedback from the Trademark Bureau.
Transliterations
For translations into Greek, we can also provide the translated text in Latin characters, together with pronunciation instructions for the non-Greek speaker to read the text aloud. Popular uses are:
- For foreign visitors who want to give a short speech in Greek to their local audience, in order to make a good impression.
- For companies who want to provide voice-overs or other audio content.
- For use in bilingual dictionaries or glossaries.
Phonetic Guides
A short guide on how to pronounce the Greek alphabet letters, in order to read Greek. It is usually supplied as supporting material for transliteration projects.
Back Translations
Many clients require an additional type of linguistic quality control, in the form of a back translation. First the text is translated by following the usual procedure. A different translator (with the opposite mother-tongue language set) translates the text back from the target language into the source language. This translation is rather literal and unpolished. The purpose is to highlight any mistranslations or ambiguous text. We often provide back translations for 3rd party translations, as well as for our own translations.
